The Department of Innovation, Business and Employment of the Government of Navarra
The Department of Innovation, Business and Employment of the Government of Navarra is the public regional organisation charged with boosting the Innovation and Technological Development of Navarre Industry. The Department focuses its activities on: experts training, innovation support and on the promotion of competitiveness’ improvement working on the fields of quality, design and technology management. The current “Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS)” is the “Second Technology Plan of Navarra, 2004-2007” with a total budget of 141Meuro. Support to business R+D+I projects and to the Infrastructures of Technology agents accounts for 82% of its budget.
For the elaboration of the “Second Technology Plan of Navarra, 2004-2007” a regional foresight exercise was executed with the expertise collaboration of OPTI, through 7 sector expert panels (agro-food, energy, transport-car industry, TIC, design and production, environment and biotechnology). Also, the Government of Navarre has taken part in the Foresight Expert’s groups constituted under the direction of the unit K2 “Science and Technology Foresight” of the DG Research, specifically, as a member of the TECHTRANS blueprint expert group.
The Government of Navarra is very interesting on the Innovation Transregional Cooperation. For this reason, the Second Regional Innovative Actions Programme of Navarra “EUROINNOVA NAVARRA” recently approved by the European Commission, includes several actions related to the promotion of transregional agreements with other regional bodies charged to the Innovation and also the constitution of networks among the different stakeholders of the Navarra’s Innovation System with other similar bodies in Europe.
